Learn and Master Piano Review – A Grammy Winning Teacher and Lower Cost then Private Instruction Makes This Course a Must Have for Beginner & Intermediate Piano Players

When learning to play the piano one thing holds true no matter what or how you learn to play. We’re only as good as the quality of our instructor.

If we consider this rule when we evaluate Learn and Master Piano then I’ve got to say you’d be hard pressed to find a better instructor then Will Barrow.

Will, who authored and teaches Learn & Master Piano, is a Grammy Award winning pianist, teacher and singer/songwriter. Of all the learn piano courses I’ve reviewed Will is the best teacher out there.

The course is designed with the beginner piano player in mind, but there is something for players of all skill levels.

With the first dvds starting with the absolute basics you will quickly be learning to play songs and stretching your skills by the second DVD.

The courses uses popular songs to teach you each new skill and technique which I feel helps keep you motivated and interested.

More then Just DVD Lessons

Learn and Master Piano is often thought of as just a piano lessons dvd program. While there are 14 DVDs in the course you also receive 5 Jam Along Discs, which contain 120 jam along songs to practice to, 100+ page work book and unlimited online support and feedback at the private members website.

Learn and Master is the only Piano course that offers such in depth contact directly with the instructor so you can ask questions if you get stuck, get feedback as your learn and gain encouragement from other students.

A Closer Look at Each Part of the Course

The DVDs

There was a lot of thought and time put into not only the planning of this course, but also the shooting of the video lessons. This is apparent with the multiple angle shots taken during each DVD lesson.

There is an on-screen keyboard that lights up according to the keys Will is playing during the lessons. I believe this feature makes learning from the videos a lot quicker.

The video quality is top notch and I was really impressed with the onscreen menus and navigation on each one of the piano lesson dvds. They really took their time to create quality content presented in a very professional manner.

The Lesson Book

If you’ve ever tried learning Piano from a lesson book you know how tough it can be without any visual examples to follow. This lesson book is as through as any I’ve seen at my local music store, so if you’ve ever taken lessons before you’ll be able to learn a lot from just the work book alone.

The real power of the lesson book comes when you combine it for practice with the lesson videos.

The book is divided up into sections, one for each lesson on the DVDs. After you watch a lesson you can refer to the section of the lesson book to review what you learned and also reference the jam tracks you can practice with on the Jam Along Cds.

This is one of the best supplemental practice manuals I’ve ever seen.

The Jam Cds

This is the most fun you’ll ever have while practicing. There are 120 different jam tracks on the 5 Jam Along Cds included with Learn & Master Piano.

Each track corresponds to a particular lesson from the DVDs and you can get a listing for which tracks go with which lesson from the workbook.

The songs are available in 3 different speeds so as you’re learning you can start off slow to master the techniques and then speed up as you improve.

Hands down your friends and family will be impressed when you’re playing along with some of these songs. Take a listen to some of the Jam Tracks. They’ve taken special care to use songs that you’ll know.

Online Support

Being part of a community helps you grow and learn no matter what the topic. Learn and Master Piano’s online support website and membership forum is the best in the industry.

It helps that they’ve sold more then 50,000 dvd instruction courses for piano, guitar, drums and more, but their commitment to your success is evident the first time you login.

Will Barrow, the instructor, frequents these forums to help answer questions and provide feedback to students as they learn. In my opinion this special touch adds a lot of value to the course.

Conclusion

Learn and Master Piano is a solid course through and through. If you’re not going to take private piano lessons this is the next best thing.

It is a little on the pricey side and some people I’ve talked to have decided against purchasing it for that reason. How ever if you contrast the cost of this course against a years worth of private piano lessons:

50 weeks a year x $15 a week = $750 dollars
